Background

The Midden Court was originally farmers buildings connected to Symbister House the former lairds manor. Symbister House is now the Whalsay Secondary School but the Midden Court to the rear is falling into disrepair. In 2006, the Whalsay History Group successfully completed phase 1 of this project by restoring and refurbishing the north farmer's house into premises for their group.

They were keen to see phase 2 begin which would renovate the remaining buildings. This project could ensure long term use of the buildings and be of great benefit to the Whalsay community.
